Bahadur Shah Zafar, the last Mughal Emperor, ascended the throne in 1837

He succeeded his father Akbar Shah II.

He was a noted Urdu poet who wrote many Urdu Ghazals.

He was involved in the revolt of 1857.

He was captured by the British from Humayun’s Tomb

Zafar was tries at the Red Fort by the company and he was exiled to Rangoon in Myanmar.

He died there in 1862 at the age of 87
